About Us

Now under new management and recently renovated, Bowen Arrow Motel is run by award winning mother and daughter team, Melissa and Jessica Boot.

When you book accommodation at Bowen Arrow Motel, we hope you enjoy the family-friendly atmosphere we've strived hard to create. As part of updating the motel for a fresh new look, we will be offering nutritious breakfasts and dinner options. This is a great alternative for truckies who stop overnight and long for home cooking instead of takeaways.

At our Bowen motel, we are able to offer after-hours check-in by arrangement. There is a key safe located at reception for guests who may be arriving late at night or in the small hours of the morning—ideal for long haul truck drivers. Free parking is available, with ample room to park up your Double Bs, trailers and boats.

Our motel is conveniently located on the Bruce Highway, away from the road, so you can enjoy a peaceful night's sleep in a spacious air conditioned room.

We look forward to welcoming you as our guests.

Things to do and see in Bowen

Located 1165 kilometres from Brisbane, and approximately halfway between Mackay and Townsville on the Bruce Highway, Bowen is the gateway to the Whitsundays. Often overlooked as a tourist destination for the more popular north Queensland beaches, there's something to be said for this charming, art deco, coastal town. It even served as the backdrop for Baz Luhrmann's award-winning movie Australia. Whether you're passing through or want to unwind away from the multitudes of tourists, you can't beat Bowen. There's plenty to see and do.

Unspoilt Bays

Bowen boast some of Queensland's most picturesque coastline. With 8 pristine beaches to explore, you'll feel yourself start to relax as soon as your feet touch the sand. Horseshoe Bay, Rose Bay, Kings Beach, Queens Beach, Grays and Murray's Bay (access from a dirt track) are all a short drive from our motel.

The foreshore is an ideal place for the entire family. Enjoy a walk to the nearby jetty to view fascinating sea life like stingrays and turtles. There are also plenty of picnic tables and a playground.

Waterpark Playground

A 9-minute drive from our Motel is Bowel Waterpark Playground. The soak bucket, water cannons and waterslides make it a fun way to cool off. It's free to use and suitable for kids of all ages.

The Big Mango

You've probably seen the big banana in Coffs Harbour and the big Pineapple on the Sunshine Coast, now it's time to see the world's biggest mango. At 10-metres high the big mango is an iconic landmark and presents a great opportunity to grab a selfie.

Summergarden Theatre

This charming art deco style building constructed in 1948 is home to a modern day movie theatre. It screens all the latest Hollywood blockbusters, family films and golden oldies. It's located in Queens Beach. For session times visit the Bowen Cinema website.

Mullers Lagoon

Enjoy a leisurely walk through 23.57 hectares of picturesque botanical gardens. The walking track winds its way around a lagoon. There's picnic areas with free BBQ facilities and a playground.

Rollerskating

Friday nights, PCYC hosts supervised skating nights for the kids at the front beach precinct. Pizza and lollies are available, so sign the kids in for the evening, while you enjoy a peaceful stroll along the beach or visit the movies.

Snorkelling

Bowen is unique in that it's one of the few places you can snorkel from beach and view the reef. With some of most amazing coral in Queensland and just metres from the shore, there's amazing marine life waiting to be discovered.

Scuba Diving

Explore an underwater World War 2 landing craft, a mere 18 metres from the shore at Queens Beach. There's also great diving from Holbourne and Middle Islands.
